SKRILLEX Video RAGGA BOMB combines Elysium with Star Wars and it works

skrillex-ragga-bomb-video-600x337

Skrillex is known for his love of science fiction. He uses samples from anime, science fiction and horror films to create his heart pounding dubstep, so when he teamed up with  South African director Terence Neale, for his latest video “Ragga Bomb”, you know  it’s going to be magic. This video for “Ragga Bomb” featuring the British jungle mainstays Ragga Twins , is highly imaginative sci fi, to say the least. The video was shot in Johannesburg and Alexandra, South Africa and even features a lightsaber battle at the end. I don’t know if George Lucas is gonna come at him for this, but my guess is that he will (cause George Lucas can be a dick like that).

Ragga Bomb can be downloaded off of  Skrillex’s latest release “Recess” now on Itunes and Spotify .

A collection of amazing fan made ELYSIUM posters

Janee MeadowsThe commemorate the release of Neill Blompkamp’s ELYSIUM starring Matt Damon, Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley, some amazing illustrators have created their own poster art for the film. Some of which have a bit of that retro vibe and some mondo, but all very very good. I hope you guys run right out and catch this amazing movie! I’m hearing good things.

All artworks come compliments of The Short List

As you might’ve guessed I’m backing the shit out of this film…as if they need it. Yesterday we got to see the full trailer for director Neil Blomkamp‘s (District 9) futuristic epic Elysium and it was outstanding,at least visually, it was stunning. It’s been kind of a long process getting this baby to screen. The film ran into a snag a few months ago when Sony decided to push it from it’s original March release to an August release, simply to make room for the uber-complicated Robocop remake. Since then all systems are a go, evidence by the trailer that released yesterday. The footage is down right astounding!

Today we get another treat from Elysium’s official website itsbetterupthere.com , in the form of exclusive production stills that feature, yet unseen, moments with Sharlto Copley, Jodie Foster and Matt Damon. By the way, I can’t wait to see what that damn exoskeleton Matt and Sharlto are rocking in the trailer can do.

Elysium stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Wagner Moura, Diego Luna, and William Fichtner. and releases in theaters on August 9, 2013.

Official synopsis:

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

ELYSIUM trailer starring Matt Damon is another masterpiece by director Neil Blomkamp

There’s a certain feeling I get when I watch true artistry. Artistry that’s not forced and completely effortless. This trailer for director Neil Blomkamp‘s hyper apocalyptic film ELYSIUM is just that. Clean and concise and with a ton of visually interesting concepts that folks like me will take one look at and must know more. That’s the hook! Bring on the Halo movie, this guy can do it!

Neil Blomkamp’s awesome “Elysium” poster arrives.

There wasn’t anything cheesy about District 9, contrary to popular belief, in fact it was some of the best science fiction I had ever seen. This is why Neil Blomkamp has earned my undying respect. Director Neil Blomkamp is another one of those GCI artist turned Director, whose eye for action and story has carried over from his days with the Halo storyline to District 9 and now Elysium starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. So far he’s been able to deliver that level of punch that has kept this cynic in the theaters and for me, he will go down as one of the best directors in the world if he’s not careful.

The movie is set in 2159, and two classes of people are divided: the wealthy live on a man-made space station called Elysium, while the rest of the humans inhabit an overpopulated and ruined Earth. Matt Damon plays a desperate man who must reach Elysium in order to find a cure that will save his life.

The film also stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Wagner Moura, and William Fichtner. Elysium opens August 9th.
