Super sexy video for FKA twigs-Papi Pacify

FKA-twigs-Papi-Pacify-video-608x407

As we grow as a human race  (I use that term very lightly), we are constantly redefining sex through music and with each generation, we seem to be getting closer to the heart of the matter. FKA twigs (affectionately named for the way her bones cracked?) is giving sexiness the much needed makeover it deserves (you fucking hear that Miley?). FKA twigs, hails from Gloucestershire, UK and is lending some soultryness to the already sexy genre of witchhouse, two step, pitch-down, trap music that groups such as Balam Acab, How to Dress Well , James Blake and Active Child , have made great careers at. Sounding a bit like Lykki Li or Kate Boy, FKA twigs is clearly carving an original path with Papi Pacify, the second release off her four track 2013 EP. One taste of this video will be all you need to get you there. Sex has a new face.

Video for Youth Lagoon’s “Raspberry Cane” will leave you speechless

tumblr_inline_mrh6fjy7lv1qz4rgp

Trevor Powers a.k.a. Youth Lagoon, takes his ethereal quest one step further with this video for his new song “Raspberry Cane”. Director Stephen McNally gets all subatomic and Pagan at the same time by delivering normalcy with indigenous and slightly cult-like archetypes. Let’s see we have Tiki masks, burning phoenix’s, ghosts and Mundy’s…it’s all very unique and oddly peaceful. I can’t wait to pick up a copy of this track off YL’s second album Wonderous Bughouse on Fat Possum Records.

NOISEY gives us the lowdown on Hair, Style and Music

3f41832cfd380c297cdab1c36aee98d9

How much does your look determine how well you will be accepted by the masses? That’s one of the questions, I think, NOISEY tries to ask, as they interview the likes of Sleigh Bells, Tegan and Sara and Rye Rye.

From David Bowie to Karen O , the image of the Rock Star has always played a pivotal part in the commercialization of rock, whether you suck or not. Plus it’s a security blanket for a lot of artists, as you’ll find out. I will say this, watching this video is like sitting in a hair salon filled with annoying people talking about themselves. Good Luck guys and I apologize ahead of time.

BTW…anyone else think these artist are too sober?

Trailer for documentary 12 O’ Clock Boys is a stunning look at a new breed of bedlam

'12 O'clock Boys'

Continuing in that tradition of groundbreaking cinema the production company Oscilloscope Labs, started by The Beastie Boys MCA (R.I.P), brings us another riveting documentary about youthful rebellion on a whole new level. Directed by Lofty Nathan, The 12 O’Clock Boys follows the lives of a notorious motocross gang that has developed a new way of spreading hi jinx across Baltimore’s inner cities. Is it breaking the law and how far will some of the impressionable youth go to become one of the boys?

This film premiered at SXSW Film Festival this year and also took the Hot Docs HBO Emerging Artist Award this summer. This is one of those Kickstarter successes that I think everyone should see…it looks amazing.

Via. Firstshowing.net

The 12 O’Clock Boys are a notorious urban dirt bike pack in Baltimore. Converging in groups and invading the streets, they dangerously–yet magnificently–make their presence known as they pop wheelies and weave in and out of traffic at excessive speeds, all the while taunting the police who must obey a self-imposed “no chase” rule for fear of endangering the public. Nathan frames the years-in-the-making narrative through the eyes of the adolescent Pug – a kid from the Westside eager to join the 12 O’Clock Boys’ ranks. Pug reveres the Boys’ every move, and Nathan follows this young man through some of the most pivotal years of his life, providing a compelling and intimate personal story within the broader depiction of the wild, dynamic world of the 12 O’Clock Boys. Oscilloscope Labs will release Lotfy Nathan’s 12 O’Clock Boys starting in early 2014.

Artist Kim Keever’s creates surreal dreamlike landscapes in a fish tank

hero

Kim Keevers has taken old school Hollywood effects into a modern art direction. Some of you might remember watching one of those “Making of…” documentaries about Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters or Ron Howard‘s Cocoon and seeing the VFX artists using this exact same technique to create strange clouds that usually introduced the mother ships in those films.

The technique involves dropping liquid, usually milk or something heavier, into a tank filled with water and jI__AANTV3KBZigv4GhxlryJoAQthen filming it at a very high rate to slow the image down. Slow equals huge and epic. But Kim not only uses this technique, but he creates the diorama style landscapes that sit beneath these strange clouds and eerie mists. It’s a trip looking at his stills…their so visceral.

A lot of his works look like physical representations of early American artist such as Jasper Francis Cropsey and Thomas Cole. His sculptures harness the vastness of the American landscape in the 1800′s, but then drops in the odd hues like bright pinks and blues, twisting the pallet and putting an almost psychedelic spin on all the majesty.

Could he be making a statement about the times we live in? You would like that wouldn’t you? The man can’t just be creating what makes him happy…RIGHT?!! You communist!!

Trailer for Out Of The Furnace starring Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson and Casey Affleck arrives

furnace

It’s seems cool and though it’s a little early for Oscar nods, this could be a shoe in. A release date would be nice, but none have been given yet for this film directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Get Low). The movie stars Christian Bale as a brother whom after being recently reunited with other brother Casey Affleck, he must go searching for him out of fear that he may have gotten recruited by a back woodsy brutal fight club, run by none other than Woody Harrelson. Aslo in the film is Zoe Saldana, whom I have to admit is easy on the eyes, but seems a bit out of place in this film. She’s incapable of toning down the glam and although I like that most of the times, this isn’t a pretty picture and it needed a different leading lady…who knows maybe her performance will surprise me. Also in the cast Forest Whittaker who plays the town sheriff…okay okay so you starting to see how many heavy hitters we are dealing with?…and to top it all off there’s Willem Dafoe ,Sam Shepard…and wait for it…it’s produced by Ridley Scott. What’s not to like? Lots of actors, lot’s of emotion, but will it deliver? This trailer certainly does.

Out Of The Furnace stars Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Sam Shepard, Forest Whittaker and Willem Dafoe, No release date yet for this film.

Amanda Seyfried makes a pretty convincing Linda Lovelace in new trailer for Lovelace

lovelace

The world can never have too many movies set in the seventies. I have to believe that there’s a cross section of this world that eats flicks like this up. Zodiac,Boogie Nights,Blow,Crooklyn,Casino, you name it, I love movies set in the seventies, cause if you think about it, they’re all usually pretty good.

It’s like what they really did, movie-wise, in the seventies was crap, but we “in the now” always tend to romanticizes their trivialities and it works most of the time. Such is the case with Lovelace starring Amanda Seyfried and directed by Rob Epstein & Jeffrey Friedman (Howl). In this film they try to uncover the mysteries behind the woman behind the movie that rocked a nation. I must say it was a far out concept even by today’s standards to create a porno about a girl whose clitoris was located in the back of her throat. Then you have Marilyn Chamber’s Behind the Green Door which was another classic that made huge waves in the seventies, but through it all these were all still artist who for all intents and purposes, were trying to make real movies. A point brought up a million times by Burt Reynold’s character Jack Horner in Boogie Night’s.

VHS did screw everything up, but people do still try to make plot driven porn, but it’s no match for the internet’s instant and often times, disturbing reach. I guess that’s what makes films like this “seem” so important. The seventies in America, although sexy enough, was still sexually repressed and people like Linda Lovelace were unintentionally pushed to the forefront of the new sexual revolution of that time. That is until Aids came along and flipped up the whole game.

WOW…this post went in several different directions, but for some reason I needed to get that out.

Lovelace stars Peter Sarsgaard, Hank Azaria, Adam Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Sharon Stone and James Franco as Hugh Hefner.

amanda-seyfried-lovelace-poster

Rob Epstein & Jeffrey Friedman (Howl) direct Lovelace written by Andy Bellin. Based on Eric Danville’s biography The Complete Linda Lovelace, the film follows Linda Boreman’s  (Amanda Seyfried) rise to fame as iconic porn star Linda Lovelace of Deep Throat, the most iconic adult film ever made, and her subsequent transformation into feminist, anti-porn activist Linda Marchiano. The story is told through the perspective of three interviewers at various stages of her life. James Franco, Sharon Stone, Hank Azaria, Peter Sarsgaard and more star in the film which hits theaters later this summer on August 9th.

Trailer for “Jobs” starring Ashton Kutcher

20130621_jobs_trailer

This trailer is a no brainer, you’ve made a movie about the man who created one of the biggest computer companies in the world, just after his death. It’s one of those films that anyone who owns a Mac will and must see. I’m sure there are books floating around about Steve Jobs and how he turned a garage based software operation into a multi-billion dollar company, but I’ve never read any of them, but if I had, I assure you that this post would’ve been presented with a certain level of fact checking.

I’m not a huge Ashton Kutcher fan, but in his defense, outside of those dumb camera commercials, we really haven’t seen a lot of him which could mean he really put everything he had into this film. I ain’t gonna lie, this trailer looks pretty good. Solid first trailer all around. I’m actually hoping for the best for this film. Let’s see what happens with it.

Jobs is directed by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) and written by Matt Whiteley. It stars Ashton Kutcher, Josh Gad and J.K. Simmons. Jobs hits theaters on August 16, 2013

The story of Steve Jobs’ ascension from college dropout into one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century.

Trailer for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, is an instant classic

the-third-teaser-trailer-for-anchorman-2-is-here-movies

The trailer for Anchorman 2 is here and it’s pretty funny. Sure as hell more funny than that INTERNS trailer, but I still haven’t seen “This is the End” yet and I’ve heard that shit’s ridiculous. Seems like the news team has been away for awhile in this trailer, when they or should I say Ron (Will Farrell), is giving the chance of a lifetime…to host a 24 Hour News Station. I can’t tell what the hell happens after that, but there is a cameo by Kristin Wig ) who incidentally looks like her SNL “just kidding”character). This trailer, towards the end, is like watching Coming To America and you’ll see what I’m talking about when you see it.

The film stars Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Dylan Baker, Meagan Good, Greg Kinnear, and Harrison Ford. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues opens on December 20th.

With the 70′s behind him, San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” Also back for more are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) – All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy…while taking New York’s first 24-hour news channel by storm.
