Pacific Rim graphic novel “Tales From Year Zero” arrives along with character posters from the film and new “Build your own Jaeger” viral website
While July 12th is still a bit aways, that ain’t gonna stop Warner Brother’s from dishing out some geek friendly promos. The first of which are some very cool character posters from the film that feature two of the stars Charlie Hunan as Raliegh Beckett and Rinko Kikuchi as Mako Mori of the Gypsy Danger crew. Idris Elba who plays Stacker Pentacost also has a poster.
Posters come via the Pacific Rim Facebook page
Next up is a prequel graphic novel for Pacific Rim entitled Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero being distributed by Legendary Comics? I had no idea Legendary Pictures was in the comic book business.
Hitting stores June 5, PACIFIC RIM: TALES FROM YEAR ZERO serves as a prequel to the highly-anticipated motion picture — Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures Pacific Rim. Chronicling the very first time Earth is menaced by incredible monsters known as Kaiju, these inhuman beasts rise from the ocean depths and threaten to extinguish all mankind! Witness the race to develop massive robot fighting machines called Jaegers, each one controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. This action-packed book features many of the key characters from the film as we follow them in their early careers. Written by Pacific Rim screenwriter himself, Travis Beacham, and with del Toro’s hands-on supervision, this volume is beautifully penciled by Sean Chen, Yvel Guichet, Pericles Junior, Chris Batista and Geoff Shaw; inks by Steve Bird, Mark McKenna, Pericles Junior and Matt Banning.
And Lastly, a cool little project for all you Jaegermiesters out there (like how I did that?) This program allows the user to create their own robot. Whether demure or armed to the teeth, you create a monster to fit your needs you can even post that monstrosity on Facebook or Twitter. Check it out here—> Jaeger Designer WARNING: THIS SITE IS EXTREMELY GLITCHY.
In the near future, giant monsters identified as “Kaiju” have risen from a crevice in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in a war which takes millions of lives and quickly consumes humanity’s resources. To combat this new threat, a special type of weapon is designed: massive robots, known as Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. As time passes, even the powerful Jaegers prove almost defenseless in the face of a relentless enemy. On its last stand and on the verge of defeat, the remaining defending forces of mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to pilot a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the early trials of the mechanical titans. Together, they must stand as the human race’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse
